This is a conceptual design of a facility that would meet the current and future needs of the Park County Animal Shelter as identified by Shelter Planners architects.

Project Timeline

JULY 2013

Two donors made unsolicited contributions totaling $320,000 to rebuild the shelter.

OCT 2013

The Board hired Shelter Planner Architects to conduct a Needs Assessment.

MAY 2014

The Board hired Shelter Planners to prepare a schematic building design. The design yielded designs ranging from $1.5 to $2.3 million.

DEC 2014 – JULY 2015

The Board researched reducing building costs and fundraising ideas.

AUG 2015

The Board hired Animal Shelter Fundraising (ASF) to conduct a Fundraising Feasibility Study. Fifteen major recommendations were presented to the Board.

JAN 2016 – FEB 2016

Based on the Study outcome, the Board accepted a goal to raise 1.7 million. The Fundraising Feasibility Study became the road map to a new and improved shelter building.

MAY 2016

The Board created and filled a PCAS Fundraising Coordinator position.

JULY 2016

The Board hired ASF to manage our capital campaign, focusing on the next 12 months of the “Quiet Phase” when we make solicitations of major gifts.

AUG 2016 – APR 2017

The Board appointed a Capital Campaign Steering Committee to work with ASF to develop Campaign strategies, policies and materials.

JUNE 2017

The Capital Campaign Steering Committee begins the Quiet Phase of the Campaign.

July 2019

Conclusion of the Capital Campaign.

Sept 2019

Construction groundbreaking of awesome new building.

LATE 2020

Grand Opening of the new Better Shelter.

Park County Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
