Dr. Amy Defries has been teaching the staff how to watch for health issues in our animal population. We have learned about respiratory infections, dermatological conditions, effusion, neurological conditions, and musculoskeletal issues.
We are so blessed to have Dr. Amy on staff to care for our animals and teach us what signs we need to watch for to keep the shelter healthy and safe. |
In support of the PCAS foster program, we are having a Kitten Baby Shower! Spring is here, and that means Kitten Season is just around the corner. We're hosting a Kitten Baby Shower to make sure our Cat Foster Parents have all the supplies they need to make it through the kitten season. The drive runs throughout the month of April, but you can donate anytime. Help us reach our supply goal by April 30th. Supplies can be dropped off at the PCAS, at 3 Arrow Avenue, or you can shop our Amazon wish list by visiting the blue link button. |

The Cody Enterprise will be featuring two of the shelter animals each month. Watch for the highlights regarding Zeppelin and Derp.
DERP is a large Mixed Breed large male dog. He is a very handsome dog and is growing into himself. Derp is exuberant and has great amounts of energy and power. He's a young dog and just learning where his long legs and feet are. He will love your cuddles and he's happy to be in the car having the wind blow through his ears and lips. He is adventurous and can't wait to meet his forever family. If you live on acreage or get out in the hills, he will love the great outdoors and hiking.
ZEPPELIN, is very talkative. He is a domestic shorthair and a very handsome cat. He loves to receive pets and he likes other cats. He is looking for a cozy lap to sleep on and he loves his toys. When the Book Buddy kids come to read to him he loves playing with the string and bells. He really would like a friend to play with him and he's looking for his forever home. |

New K9 Grass will be installed in the month of May (weather permitting). Forever lawn is installing the grass, and Midwest Fence is removing the existing kennel fencing and putting it back up when the grass is installed.
Anonymous donors paid for the grass in full and the staff and dogs can hardly wait for the installation to begin!
Thank you to the dear donors who saw the need and allowed PCAS to go forward with this incredibly necessary project for the safety and comfort of our dogs. Installation day cannot come fast enough. |
Every month we have people in our community who SPONSOR animal's adoption fees. In March, Jacob and Rebecca Sphatt, Laurie Sigurdson, Holly Wood, Lydia Goff, Kimberly Rasmussen and Nancy Ryan were so kind to pay for the adoption of many animals. |
Every month we have people in our community donating products and in-kind donations. In the Month of March your donations totaled $2,469.00. When we ask, we receive! THANK YOU! Your generosity allows our staff to keep our shelter clean and welcoming. |
Why do I volunteer at Park County Animal Shelter?
I pet cats, and there are few things in life as rewarding as having a ball of fur rushing over to greet you so it can be petted, and anxious to give you heaps of unconditional love. Cat and dogs ask for so little and give so much in return. They are not judgmental and don't care how you look, or dress, or talk, or if you drive a big car. I also find petting cats can be very therapeutic. It eliminates the pressure and stress of daily life by putting me in a calm, relaxed cat world. Sometimes I think that I get more out of the cat petting than the cats do.
Even if you don't want to walk a dog, or pet cats, you can be a valuable volunteer by offering a unique knowledge or skill you may have. Or you could help by just doing something that everyone has some experience with like gardening, landscaping or household chores. It all counts, and it is all needed. Finally, and maybe the most important, life has been pretty good to me, and I believe that helping animals in need of care and love is a small way for me to pay back at least some of the debt I owe." Happy National VOLUNTEER MONTH |
In a day and age where time is so very precious it's difficult to find the right words to thank all of our volunteers. You have helped make a difference in our community and in the lives of the animals we are entrusted to care for! Our volunteers in every area of the shelter make a huge difference in our success. Every day they cheerfully walk through our doors ready to go to work. Our Book Buddy Readers, Dog Walkers, Foster Parents, Building Maintenance Helpers, all deserve the highest praise and thank you! It's with deepest gratitude we want to recognize you on the National Volunteer month of April 2024. Your efforts really embody the spirit of what it means to be the change you wish to see in the world. You are selfless and your hearts are worn on your sleeves. Commitment to community is evident in everything you do!
